Noah Coakley is the Chief of Staff for the State Bar of Arizona. Noah’s legal career began as a Judge Advocate with the U.S. Air Force at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. As a JAG he served as a prosecutor, advisor to commanders, and as a Special Victims’ Counsel, representing victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. He currently serves in the Reserve as an Instructor of Law at the Air Force JAG School, and teaches core and advanced courses in criminal, administrative, and international law. He was recognized in 2024 as the Air Reserve Component Attorney Instructor of the Year. After leaving active duty, Noah worked as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C. in the Civil Rights Division, where he prosecuted hate crimes and police misconduct cases across the country. He subsequently worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division. Noah studied law in the Netherlands at Leiden University and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Vanderbilt University Law School. He graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina where he received a B.A. in Political Science.
